In just 9 days I will be attending the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration On The Road in Chicago. I cannot begin to describe the variety of feelings that have taken a hold of me. I am so so so VERY excited to have been selected to attend this event–something I would have never expected given that I am still pretty new to the world of blogging. I am also extremely nervous. Being the appointed worrier of the family, I am uneasy about things like other attendees like making it to the conference on time or about device malfunction. But I have, at times, succumbed to my irrational fears that maybe conference day will be like the first day of high school and I won’t have anyone to sit with or perhaps my invitation was a mistake or my RSVP email did not send (I told you this was irrational).
Last week, attendees received an email from the event coordinator asking for our favorite DisneySide photo for a “special surprise”. As you can imagine, it is very difficult for Disney enthusiast to choose just ONE photo! Since I am the photographer of the family, there are very few photos of me showing my DisneySide. The only real pictures I have of myself are either selfies or race photos. I toyed with the idea of just sending one of the kids–I have hundreds of those, but I decided to send the one picture that represents not just me and my DisneySide, but also is reminiscent of a time when I pushed myself, both physically and mentally, to the limit. It a photo of my sister and I right after we finished the Disneyland Half Marathon in 2012 and received our Coast to Coast Medals.
So this week’s task–in addition to baseball/softball/tball games, science camps, high school class selection, and running a quarter marathon–will be to decide on what to wear. Since most my my wardrobe consists of running clothes and race tshirts, this may be the most daunting of tasks.
Regardless of my nervousness and wardrobe stress, I am very much looking forward to spending the morning of June 17th with fellow Disney lovers and the social media family I have come to know over the past few years. It should be a most magical day
Special thanks to Disney, Maria Bailey and MomSelect for inviting me to attend this event!
