Two weeks ago, I had the privilege of attending the first Chicago Baby Show. Held at Chicago’s famed Navy Pier, the show was host to over 100 vendors, offered parenting seminars, family entertainment, and even had a stroller test track. I was blown away at the revolutionary products now offered to new parents. So many of them are so different from when I had my first baby over 17 years ago!! Here are some of my FAVORITE products from the show….and are on my new baby wish list!
Favorite Baby Product #3: Boppy Newborn Lounger
Yes, I think EVERY new mom gets a Boppy…even I had one back in the day. The classic Boppy was great for nursing and tummy time. However, you couldn’t let baby “sit” in it while you ran to let the dog in or answered the phone. What I love about the Newborn Lounger is that is creates a little nest for your babe. This gives you a quick and safe place to place your baby for a minute. This would be especially great for new moms who have older children! It also comes in some great trendy and gender neutral colors. You can check it out here
Favorite Baby Product #2 Doona™ Infant Car Seat/Stroller
Okay this is really innovative and I wish I had one of these for my current youngest. The Doona™ Infant Car Seat Stroller is a fully functional infant car seat that transforms into a stroller with the click of a latch. The seat is rear facing in design and is suitable for babies 4-35 pounds. The seat comes with a base that is secured into your vehicle. Remove the seat from the base, pull up on a latch at the head of the seat to release the wheels and go! This is a great product for quick shopping trips and because of its design and maneuverability, it will be great for us when running to the older kids’ cross country and track events!
Favorite Baby Product #1: 4Moms MamaRoo®4 Infant Seat
Okay, guys, I am telling you this seat is revolutionary! LIFE CHANGING!! I WISHED for this kind of inventions when our other kiddos were babies, especially our colicky oldest. This infant seat mimics the gentle up and down/side to side motion we parents naturally do when trying to soothe our babies. It doesn’t just vibrate, like traditional infant seats nor does it just swing side to side or front to back, like most swings. This infant seat replicates that natural, soothing motion we parents instinctively do. This in turn provides an optimal place for baby to “hang out” giving your arms a much-needed rest! If that weren’t enough of a selling point, the seat also features five motions and five different speeds, four built-in sounds, connectability to MP3 players, and full recline and sit-up positions. The seat covers are soft and WASHABLE!! You can check it out here
There were many amazing things to see at the Chicago Baby Show but these products were our favorites. I really enjoyed seeing how much has changed over the years when it comes to baby products. This tells me that baby-centric companies are not only taking the ever-changing safety guidelines into consideration when designing products, but are also listening to what parents want and need when it comes to baby gear.
