Things around here have been CRAZY since the first of the year! All of my well-intentioned resolutions about writing and blogging have been put on hold for Star Wars Rebel Challenge training, out Disneyland trip, the kids science fair projects (3 this year!), and spell bowl studying. Now that I have a moment to breathe I can finally share that we were chosen to host a #DisneySide @Home Celebration!! If you’ve never heard of one of these parties, folks who are interested apply in December and several hundred people are chosen to host. This year, interested applicants could choose a category that best fit their family. Some of the options were preschool, teen/tween, and multi-generational. The kits that were sent out were specific for each of the party categories. I chose multi-generational since the kids are in such different stages right now. Plus, I know several grown ups who would love the chance to show their #DisneySide as well.
So, I received the email that we had been chosen to host on January 5th. Immediately the wheels of planning began turning and the kids and I had our party narrowed down to two party options–Super Bowl or Mardi Gras. A Super Bowl theme was our first choice but only if our beloved Green Bay Packers were in it. So, before we could finalize our party plans we had to wait until the NFC championship game on January 18th. Since we would be in California that weekend for the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend, I decided that the party preparations would be put on hold until we returned from our trip–but at least we had it narrowed down to two themes and two dates.
Then this happened………….
This is my family taking a rare “everyone is in it” family photo at Downtown Disney. I’m the confused lady in the back–not looking at the camera. I’m confused because instead of shouting “say cheese” my sister shouted “I’m pregnant!”. That is the moment before my brain totally registered what she was saying….I’m finally going to be an auntie!!!
So after some more planning and a ton of begging and pleading with my anti-Disney brother-in-law, I SO excited to announce that I am hosting my #DisneySide @Home Celebration on February 22 as a gender reveal party! Family and friends will gather at my sister’s house and will have the chance to guess if she is expecting a baby Mickey or baby Minnie before the big news is revealed via frosting in the center of Disney decorated cupcakes.
I am so so excited for this party and cannot wait to share my #DisneySide with family, friends and most of all my very first niece or nephew! Stay tuned or follow me on Twitter @RNAWAYMAMA for party details and the great reveal!
